„Interesting study that stimulates ideas on leveraging Web 2.0 internally and externally. Yet I have concerns about linking self-reported usage/adoption/benefits with actual economic results based on three observations about McKinsey’s data:
1. low correlation coeficients (r squared) on almost all of the independent variables. The only two with a moderate correlation and high statistical significance are externally networked and fully networked companies with market share gains.
2. We know that “market share gains” in many companies/industries are often estimated versus calculated from actual data.3. Market Share gain is a less relevant key performance metric for solutions and services companies versus share of wallet, lifetime customer value, and customer profitability. Market share is important to high-volume product providers who fight for “shelf space” with competitors. But contrast the Proctor and Gambles, Apples, and Verizon’s from Rackspace Holdings, Salesforce.com, and most small and medium size businesses today—how relevant is market share to the latter grouping of companies?
Operating Margin/Profit is a more meaningful and factual key performance metric as it is not derived but actually reported on a company’s financial statement. Yet the correlations of Web 2.0 variables associated with Op Margin are very low. Hopefully over time, we will witness a higher correlation between internal and external Web 2.0 adoption that results in customer loyalty and associated profit gains.“

„Auf Einladung Aigners stellte der Saarbrücker Informatiker Michael Backes die Software X-pire vor, die Bilder nach einer bestimmten Zeit mit einer Art „digitalem Radiergummi“ unsichtbar machen soll. Das Zusatzprogramm für den Internet-Browser Firefox werde nach Abschluss der Testphase voraussichtlich in der kommenden Woche fertiggestellt, sagte Backes.
Der Professor an der Universität des Saarlandes räumte ein, dass die Lösung keinen Schutz gegen Screenshots (Bildschirmfotos) während der Dauer der Sichtbarkeit biete. Ohne eine solche „mutwillige Vervielfältigung“ seien die Fotos aber nach Ablauf des Verfallsdatums „nicht mehr sichtbar und werden auch nicht sichtbar gemacht werden können“.
Die Nutzung der Verschlüsselungstechnik soll monatlich 9,90 Euro kosten.“

Dort nennen sie sich «die faulen Bettler» und geben einen Einblick in ihr Leben auf der Straße. Aber nicht nur das: Über den Bezahldienst Paypal können ihnen dort auch Almosen auf ihr Konto überwiesen werden. «Wir sind Bettler des 21. Jahrhunderts», sagt Lyndon der Nachrichtenagentur dpa in Madrid. Den Schreibfehler in der Internetadresse – Bettler heißt auf Englisch «beggar» – erklärt er so: «Der Kumpel, der uns die Seite eingerichtet hat, war so betrunken, dass er die Buchstaben nicht mehr klar erkennen konnte.»
Aber nicht nur ihr Cyberauftritt unterscheidet die beiden von anderen Obdachlosen, denn sie leben freiwillig auf der Straße. Lyndon Owen ist Informatiker.
